Hello neighbors! It’s that time of year again. Time to put away our swimsuits and sunscreen and gorge ourselves silly at the Restaurant Festival. The Eagles have a late game, so you can actually enjoy the sunshine this year and take your time at each booth. Matt, my husband, and I like to park at the University and walk up if it’s a nice day. We typically start at Darlington end of Gay Street and work our way down to Matlack. Everyone ends the night at the Square Bar for their barbecue and a few cold beers to wash it down. They set up a great tent and tables so you can rest your weary legs and digest all the goodness of the day.

Although I would love to bring my Australian Shepherd, Lady, with us, this is a ‘no pets allowed’ event. Just pack a doggie bag and they will lick you with kisses upon your return. If you are bringing the kids, I would pack wipes, sunscreen, and a few small toys (like bubbles) to keep them busy when you need to sit for a few minutes to recoup – there is a outside, covered picnic area in the back of Doc Magrogan’s that is a perfect escape for families. It is somewhat enclosed so the kids can’t go far and they have tv’s so you can check the games.

I hope everyone has a great time this year! Stop by my booth this year and say hi! You can win prizes and we have free giveaways to help your tummies survive the festival!

Westchester-pa.com will have a booth this year! Stop by our booth outside of Gilmore’s for some free bottled water and tums – if you enjoy the festival like we do, you’re going to need it!
