There’s a vibe in the Plato’s Closet Exton store that transcends the catchy color palette, the great music and the rows and rows of brand-named clothing. It’s an energy that captures the essence of this one-of-a-kind resale store that offers up-to-date and fashion-forward clothing at incredibly affordable prices. And they give you cast on the spot for your trendy clothing and accessories.
It’s exactly what Carol Topolski hoped to create when she opened Plato’s Closet more than five years ago.
“I have a daughter who was a teenager who wore her clothes a few times and then get tired of them,” explains Carol. “That made me a firm believer that Plato’s Closet was a great concept. And I also love the idea of recycling clothes.”
With a rock-star team of sales people and stylists, Plato’s Closet Exton, located in the Whiteland Towne Center, is the go-to place for fun and fashion for teens and young adults looking to score great clothing at affordable prices.
Featuring brands like Forever 21, Juicy Couture, Free People and Urban Outfitters, Plato’s Closet buys and sells gently used, name-brand clothing and accessories for teens and young adults. They also offer cash on the spot for items, giving customers the opportunity to turn gently used cast-offs into fresh funds for updated finds.
Unlike other area consignment stores, Plato’s Closet targets a demographic that is known for pushing the fashion envelope, and Carol notes they’re happy to oblige.
“It’s fantastic to offer clothing that’s trendy – offering things that keep people coming back. Whether it’s high-end brands, or a unique variety of items so that everyone can put their own distinctive spin on a look – we’re here to help them do that.”
And there is something for everyone – guys and girls alike. From boots and hats, watches, jewelry, scarves and other accessories, a typical day at Plato’s Closet finds teens, young adults and even their parents browsing the racks. With more than 4,200 square feet of store space, Plato’s Closet is a warehouse of inventory, all of it meticulously organized in easy-to-browse ensembles, color palettes, and distinctive displays.
“I love to see customers come into the store for the first time and get excited about all the great merchandise we have at a discounted price,” says Carol.
Plato’s Closet boasts an impressive social media following, often promoting their inventory with in-house staff models, or even happy customers. Their photos are artsy, fun and eclectic, featuring the modern and distinctive displays that generate buzz and keep their customers engaged.
And regular contests and promotions within the store maximize the energy, keeping regular and new customers excited about coming back and distinguishing the store as one of the top-selling Plato’s Closet franchises in the country.
“We love what we do and we love the customers,” says Carol. “That’s simply what it’s all about.”
