Have you heard the quote by famous football coach, Vince Lombardi, which he always said on the first day of practice? “Gentlemen, this is a football.” Well, ladies, I am here to say that when you look at scarves, jewelry and belts, “these are accessories!”
Lombardi started with the same sentence in order to emphasize that you have to begin with the most basic part of the game. Once you master the fundamentals, you can build on success with strategies and tactics. So, let’s turn our attention to the world of fashion.
Accessories, by definition, are “a thing that can be added to something else to make it more versatile, useful or attractive.” Scarves? Check! Jewelry? Check! Belts? Check!
So why are you hesitating? There is no method to the madness. This isn’t a test, it won’t be graded. Follow the Nike maxim: Just Do It.
Don’t spend a lot of money on accessories at first. Just get couple of scarves—infinity scarves are great because you don’t even have to tie them! Buy a few necklaces of various lengths—pick what you like, not what you think you should like. Try them all together or wear just one at a time. They don’t have to be all silver or all gold. The “mixier”, the better. Same with belts — grab a couple of different widths. Buy one that fits on top of a cardigan, and one that fits in your pants’ belt loops.
Now, the next step is simple: each day give one a try. Don’t worry about the outfit, just add it to any outfit and trust us that it will work. You can wear a belt with a blazer. You can wear a scarf with a dress.
After a few weeks, then we’ll do two-a-days (you’d almost think I actually knew something about sports). Try a scarf and a few necklaces hanging behind. Or the necklaces paired with a belt over a simple white top with jeans. It will work and you’ll have fun…trust us!

Our Team Members have some advice for you!
Sara: Get two simple necklaces to start. Pick one short and one longer but keep them both simple until you gain some confidence. Pair them together over colorful tops so you make a statement but you don’t feel your jewelry is leading the way.
Hasanna: I agree but I would start with one necklace. I wear a scarf everyday but it took a while for me to get used to it. Start with a silver necklace with a charm on it since that is very stylish right now. I would pair it with jeans and a sweater or with a plain dress just to add a little something to the look.
Landi: Start bigger! I would start with bracelets. I would do a few stackable bracelets and in fact, I would make them chunky. If you start too small it might be hard to get up the courage to get bigger. Go with jeans and a top so you don’t feel too overdressed and you won’t feel too over the top. If it gets to be too much, you can take them off but you stretch yourself right from minute you leave the house.
