I don’t know about you but I was convinced this day would never come. I thought for sure I was destined to live in the frozen tundra of Pennsylvania for all eternity. And then, by some small miracle, there was a sliver of sunshine, a chirp from a bird and a blossom of a daffodil. And even with a chilly rocky start it’s still refreshing to know that spring has arrived! For some people this may mean it’s the perfect time to plant their garden. For others it’s a time to take a much needed spring break vacation with the family. For me it’s a time to finally wear flip flops and open those windows. But mostly what the change of the season gives us is a perfect opportunity to change up our look.
This season the gods of the trends universe (also known as the staff at Elle magazine) have informed us that orange is the new black. Now for some this is a welcome change and for others it may instill a fear like no other. I’m an Irish skinned redhead so clearly orange is not my go to shade. But before you go running and totally dismiss the color of the season, know that you can incorporate this and any trend into your existing style. Pick a tangerine lipstick like the ones shown at left, paint those toes a bright sunny coral (I like OPI Cajun Shrimp), even add a bright chunky orange necklace to an otherwise simple outfit. I’m ordering this beauty from Amazon. I believe as all trends come and go it is best to pick and choose the ones that work best with your style. You don’t need to totally revamp your closet or your makeup bag, just add a few things to update your style and bask in the glory of spring looking your best.
And you can take comfort in the fact that pastels and black and white are also very big this season. In fact Pantone releases official colors of the season and there are many “it” colors besdies orange. So find what works best for you. If nothing else, the change of the season gives us a reason to go shopping and who doesn’t love a reason to shop!
So you’ve found the clothes that work for you and you’ve splashed some orange into your style, now what? One of the best ways to change up your look and start anew is to revamp your hairstyle.
