Plato’s Closet Exton: “Pay it Forward, Pay it Back”

By -

platosclosetstorefrontExton, PA – Plato’s Closet celebrated their fifth anniversary in November and their impact on the community in that short amount of time is more than most people realize. Plato’s Closet does more than provide quality clothing at great prices. The store supports a multitude of local charities. Plato’s Closet is a second-hand clothing store that opened its doors in West Whiteland Shopping Center during the fall of 2008, featuring gently used clothing and accessories for teens and young adults. “When clothes are brought in that we take a pass on, we can accept them as donations for local charities. We often donate clearance items that didn’t sell as well,” Carol Topolski, proprietor tells us.

A large area of their backroom is set aside for these donations. In past years, our clearance items have been donated as far away as Africa. More recently we’ve partnered with charities closer to home. Click the Read More button for more info and to learn how you can WIN a $200 Gift Card this weekend!

platosclosetthumbsupOur donations have supported homeless families through The Angels of Christmas a charity from St Raymond’s Parish in Philadelphia and YSI on Fairmont Avenue, also in Philadelphia. More locally, in West Chester, our clothes have gone to Bible Baptist Church’s no cost clothing bazaar for the needy, House of Original Dreams (aka HOOD), Safe Harbour, Chester County Youth Center as well as the Salvation Army.

The store also partners with the Chester County Intermediate Unit providing occupational training, participates with Toys for Tots, and as the holiday approach again, we hope to expand our efforts with food drives. Last holiday season the store donated more than $500 in gift cards to The Chester County Department of Children, Youth and Families.
