Paula Sam is a Chester County native and passionate about keeping our community happy and healthy. She is also known for her warm, dynamic, and intelligent approach to teaching yoga, with a strong foundation in alignment. Yoga has been practiced for more than 5,000 years, and currently, close to 11 million Americans are enjoying its health benefits. Yoga can hardly be called a trend. She is skilled at modifying poses to accommodate injuries and physical limitations. Her unique approach as a teacher has guided hundreds of students in their discovery of yoga and its effects on their bodies.
Paula began her yogic journey at age 16, and at 19 she was certified to teach by yogi Hari Sharana Zandler. Yearning for more knowledge, in her late 20s, she began to study Iyengar yoga with Theresa Rowland. Paula feels blessed to have studied with senior Iyengar and Anusara teachers.
She has also received certifications from Michael Lee, founder of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy; Kali Ray; Stott Pilates; ACE; and PIA. Paula continues to study with Maa Parvathi Nandanath Saraswati in the Tantric methodology on the path of the Bhairavi or Tantric Adept. Paula enjoys the ancient texts and her in-depth studies and loves learning from all lineages of yoga.
In addition to her extensive knowledge and practice of yoga, Paula is a licensed massage therapist, Esogetic Colorpuncture practitioner, Stott Pilates instructor, and group fitness instructor. She is a Wise Earth Sadhaka practitioner, having trained at Wise Earth School of Ayurveda with Maya Tiwari.
Paula is grateful for the vast knowledge of the many teachers who have guided her over the years and for the amazing students who teach her daily. You will meet all of her wonderful instructors while visiting Sama Center. Each one specializing in different techniques and healing.
Paula shares her life with her son and her six other feathered and four-legged children and is proud to call Chester County home.
