Mardi Gras Fashion

It’s almost time for Mardi Gras — and just because we’re miles and miles away from New Orleans geographically doesn’t mean we can’t join them in fashion spirit!

Why not bring the party home and remember that Spring is almost here and life is worth celebrating!  Sometimes letting loose is good medicine — particularly in the midst of this aggressive winter weather. A little Mardi Gras spirit may be just the ticket to carry this celebratory attitude all through the Spring season!  And infusing a light pop of color into your wardrobe is a great way to start.

There are several great 2014 spring fashion trends coming our way, so there is plenty to choose from when deciding what to wear.  They  all involve two key elements: a pop of color and a little fashion flair. Pastels and holographic styled pieces are going to be big and can even be paired together.

So let’s start with pastels.  I love matching pastels with other light colors or going really bold and pairing the delicate colors with black. Pastels are not only going to be seen in clothing, but in accessories as well.  Pastel bags, shoes, and hats are a great way to incorporate this trendy and gorgeous hue.  Try matching a pastel top with white jeans.b2ap3_thumbnail_white-jeans-polyvore.jpg

Other great fashion trends to try are contrast color button down tops which take the professional and make it fashionable.  Pair these tops with a longer skirt—tea length is hot right now.  Also, don’t forget your prints!  Geometric prints remain on trend—and don’t forget to try wearing mismatched prints in a coordinated way.b2ap3_thumbnail_tea-length-skirt.jpg

As for accessories, cutout booties and flats, as well as hats and fedoras are going to make an appearance this Spring!  If you’re anything like me, even the thought of sporting a hat may make you feel uncomfortable, but branching out of your comfort zone and adding a slight edge to your outfits what you may need to learn to let loose and have fun with your style!b2ap3_thumbnail_fedora.jpg

How are you injection Mardi Gras fashion into your wardrobe?  Do you have some great pastels you can’t wait to wear this Spring?
