When my youngest was born last year, we had a situation occur that is the stuff of nightmares. That moment of pure joy when your child enters the world should not be interrupted, let alone with the terrible news that something may be wrong. Our baby was whisked away to the NICU and evaluated while we waited helplessly for information. Those moments, hours, days of uncertainty were excruciating. We are beyond fortunate to say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with him. He is 100% healthy and brilliant just like his siblings, but for those who have received different news, my prayers go out to you.
Without the courageous people and organizations that tend to our young children in those desperate times (anytime!), where would we be? What would become of our most precious?
March of Dimes in an institution known for their unwavering support for women and babies. They provide information and resources for women to encourage full term pregnancies and provide help to those families who experience the complications from a preterm birth.
2 Families in the area are sharing their story and giving back!
“Hi Everyone! It’s time again for our annual walk to support the March of Dimes. You probably all know by now how personal this cause is to us. Our daughter, Abby, was born two months premature, weighing only 2lbs 14oz. She spent the first two months of her life in the NICU on oxygen and a heart monitor, slowly gaining enough weight to come home.
When she was finally able to come home, she was only four pounds and still on the oxygen and heart monitor. While Abby has been amazingly healthy, we quickly realized she wasn’t meeting milestones.
She received Early Intervention services from the time she was 1 until she was 3 and then she transitioned to the Intermediate Unit. She currently attends a special needs Pre-K class and we are getting ready for kindergarten next year.
We are so lucky to have Abby, but it has definitely been a bumpy ride. She has come so far and continues to amaze us. We support the March of Dimes because we hope to save other families the struggles that we have been through.
Thank you so much for supporting our family and a great cause, Hope to see you at the walk!!
By supporting the March of Dimes, we hope to help other moms have healthy full term pregnancies.

If you can’t walk with us, please help by donating to our team. You can do so right on this page. Thank you for helping us give all babies a healthy start!
This year we are raffling off an Apple iPad Mini to raise money for a great cause. If you would like to buy raffle tickets, you can do so through our PayPal account and we will fill out your raffle tickets for you. Abby will be picking the lucky winner after the walk.
