As the winter chill sets in and we turn up our thermostats, remember those who do not have heat.
One such person is one of our own – a Chester County resident and combat medic with the PA Army National Guard.
Please take a moment to read the letter below from DiBiase Heating & Cooling Company about Elizabeth’s story and learn how you can help a soldier during these harsh winter months.
Hello Fellow Supporters of the United States Military,
We would like to share a story with you that has become very near to our hearts, a Chester County Solider is in need of emergency assistance. We received a call last weekend from a Combat Medic‘s mother who explained to us that her daughter Elizabeth was in New York working as a relief medic on behalf of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard was expected to return on Monday to her home with no heat. We went to Elizabeth’s home to investigate and discovered that the heater was not operable and would indeed need replacement. We also learned through talking with the Sergeant that this was going to be an incredible financial hardship. We assured Elizabeth that we were committed to doing everything in our power to help her.
However, the story does not end there. I was holding back my tears after Elizabeth explained to me her experience to date throughout her military career and she gave me permission to share some of this story with you.
Elizabeth enlisted in the National Guard in her junior year of high school and she belongs to one of the most called upon National Guard units in the United States. She has been exposed to war victims, who you can imagine come to her in very critical medical crisis and major complications. She has been deployed on behalf on the Operation Iraqi Freedom War which has caused Elizabeth to suffer from severe PTSD.
In addition to the PTSD, physically she suffers from various ailments related to an injury from carrying a 300 lb. patient. Her hip was broken while on duty and she now suffers with scoliosis and is an inch shorter than she started out – at only 23 years old, she has been told by chiropractors and physical therapist that she now portrays the back of a 50 year old. She has self-funded a good bit of her medical care related to this injury which has become a hardship for Elizabeth and her family.
Our Equipment Dealer, Lyon and Conklin, is supplying the equipment for a discounted price on behalf of Sergeant and DiBiase Heating and Cooling Company has donated the labor cost for the installation. In addition a major supporter of the US Military and local cause across the Delaware Valley RE/MAX Top Performers of Drexel Hill, PA donated a generous amount towards this cause.
We are asking you, as a community member or business, to donate to this relief effort, titled appropriately – “Operation Heat” on behalf of Sergeant Elizabeth.
Any donation will help and we are committed to getting the word out once the project is complete to thank everyone publicly.
In the short time we have known Elizabeth one thing we have learned is she has always been one to help and do for others. This time we want to do something for her by helping her in this critical need and feel it’s the least we can do as she serves and protects our country.
We need your help:
If you or your company would like to support Operation Heat we will gladly thank you publicly. In addition, we will also be sponsoring a family that Elizabeth has taken in during a very hard time with a Christmas meal and gifts for the family as our family has chosen instead of giving each other Pollyanna, we would give the money that we would spend on one another to the family in need who Elizabeth has provided shelter for. In addition to our family’s efforts a local community member Stacy Watterson, showed up at our office last week with gifts for the children as well – Chester County has some amazing residents!
How to donate: Currently the account is $995.00 dollars away from reaching its goal of funding the equipment cost. If you would like to support this local solider please let me know and or send a check to:
