One of Kennett Square’s signature events ends in the Park. The Kennett Run offers something for all ages and abilities ranging from a 1 mile fun walk to a 10K Power Run and everything in between. Food, drinks and entertainment all provided by local businesses and sponsors, celebrating the strength of community and family in Kennett Square.

Saturday, May 17th 2014

7:00am – 8:30am: PoweRun Lifting competition

8:50am: Pre-race meeting

9:00am: 10k run, 10k PoweRun

9:25am: 5k run, 5k PoweRun Wave 1

9:27am: 5k run, 5k PoweRun Wave 2

9:30am: 5k Run/Walk Wave 3

9:35am: Kids FundRun

Registration available at the Kennett YMCA gym on Friday May 16th

from 5:30pm -7:30pm and Saturday, May 17th from 6:30am-8:00am


5k Run: $30 pre-registration, $35 late/day-of

10k Run: $30 pre-registration, $35 late/day-of

Kids FundRun: $20 (Race T-Shirt included)

Buses will be available for transporting runner and spectators from the Exelon parking lot to Registration and the Start beginning at 6:30 a.m., From 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. buses will transport individuals to Anson B. Nixon Park from Excelon parking lot. From 10:30am to noon buses will run from Anson B Nixon Park to Exelon parking lot.

Parking is available at the following locations:

Exelon Generation – located on Exelon Way in Kennett Square (off of State Street)

The Kennett Square Fire Company – located on Dalmation Lane, Kennett Square (off of Cypress Street)

The Genesis Parking Deck – located at the corner of Linden Street and Union Street, Kennett Square

PLEASE do not attempt to park at the Registration site, at the Start, or at Anson Nixon Park as you will be turned away. There will be plenty of buses to take you where you need to go in a timely manner.

Prizes & Awards

$500, $250, $125 cash to the top three overall male & female in the 5K Run

$200, $100, $50 cash to the top three overall male & female in the 5K Power Run

$500, $250, $125 cash to the top three overall male & female in the 10K Run

$200, $100, $50 cash to the top three overall male & female in the 10K Power Run

$50 Gift Certificates to the first male & female Master in the 10K and 5K Runs

Individual awards to the top three males and females in each age group


No bicycles, skates, dogs, or unregistered persons will be allowed on the course.

Strollers are allowed only in the rear of third wave of the 5K.

Water stops: three for the 10K Run and one for the 5K Run.

Emergency services for the Kennett Run are provided by the Kennett Fire Company No.1 and Longwood Fire Company

Road Closings

Some of the following roads will be closed to traffic while the race participants pass by. They will be reopened as soon as safety allows.

We sincerely hope that you can plan your schedule so that you will not be seriously inconvenienced.

State Street: Both lanes between Broad and Union from 7 to 9:20 a.m.

Union Street (Route 82): Both lanes between State and Linden from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m.

Both lanes between Linden and West Locust from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Northbound lane between West Locust and Country Club from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Linden Street: Both lanes between Union and North Willow from 8:50 to 9:30 a.m.

Elm Street: Both lanes between Linden and Walls from 8:50 to 9:40 a.m.

In Cedarcroft: Taylor, Potter, and Bayard Drives will be closed from 8:45 to 10:30 a.m. and adjacent roads will also be affected.

Country Club/East Locust: Both lanes between Route 82 and Walnut Road from 8:55 to 10:00 a.m.

Longwood Road: Both lanes between Walnut and School House Road from 8:55 to 10:30 a.m.

Walnut Road: Both lanes between Nixon Park and Country Club/Longwood Roads from 9:10 to 11:00 a.m.
