Nestled along the Pickering Creek in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, The Mill at Anselma is an extraordinary artifact of 260 years of Chester County’s industrial heritage. The Mill stands as the most intact, authentic example of a custom water-powered grain mill in the United States and has been so honored by the U.S. Department of Interior as a National Historic Landmark.

Â

The Mill illustrates the impact of changing technology on the milling industry over the course of three centuries and celebrates Chester County’s role as the breadbasket of colonial America. The Mill at Anselma Preservation and Educational Trust is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of this national treasure for the present and future enjoyment of all who come to visit.

The Mill at Anselma, a National Historic Landmark, inspires people in creative ways to discover the Mill’s authentic technology and importance to the community over three centuries of operation.

The Mill at Anselma (c. 1747) served its local agricultural community for nearly 300 years and is considered the most complete example of a Colonial-era custom grist mill in the United States. Now restored and recognized as a National Historic Landmark, the Mill allows visitors to experience Pennsylvania’s industrial and agricultural heritage through tours of the site and hands-on activities.

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (60+), and $3 for children 4-17. Children under 4 are admitted free of charge. The Mill at Anselma is located at 1730 Conestoga Road (Rt. 401), ½ mile west of Rt. 113 in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
