Date: Saturday, May 3
Location: Hoopes Park, 700 Hoopes Lane, WC
Join West Chester Recreation and the Chester County Astronomical Society on Saturday, May 3rd from 8:00pm to 10:00pm for a night under the stars at Hoopes Park. Members of the Chester County Astronomical Society, a group of amateur astronomers, will bring telescopes and expertise to Hoopes Park to share the wonders of the night sky.
There will be a beautiful crescent Moon in the sky so we’ll have a good look at the craters and “seas” that make up the Moon’s surface. The spring constellations will be high overhead with Leo the Lion taking center stage and the Big Dipper will be pointing the way to the North Star. Jupiter and Mars will be well positioned for telescopic viewing.
Bring a small flashlight and put a red balloon over the light to provide an “astronomy flashlight”. Red light will not affect your eyes so that you can view a star chart with your red flashlight then find constellations in the night sky. Star charts will be provided by the Chester County Astronomical Society.
