Chefanti Review (Hint: It’s a good one)

By -

Every family has a day (or 7) during the week that makes dinner hard.  With School, work, activities, appointments, you name it!  Our worst days are Tuesday and Thursday and sometimes Wednesday and Friday… Monday, Saturday and Sunday are usually OK 😉

I was approached by Chefanti in West Chester about trying out their food ordering service to see how we might like to use it as buffer on our busy nights.  I was ecstatic!  I had heard about them and I had literally been browsing their website the day before they emailed me.

Do you know about Chefanti?

Their service is like having your own personal chef!

“Meals are freshly prepared and available for pick-up or delivery every Monday through Friday. Meals must be ordered at least 24 hours in advance, and may be ordered as far as 2 weeks in advance. Our menu changes every 2 weeks, so be sure to check back frequently for interesting and healthy choices the whole family will enjoy!

Meals are served family-style and packaged in oven, microwave, and freezer safe containers for you to easily heat up or save for later. To place an order, check our online menu, then login to your account. Select the item(s) you want to order and the day you want the meal(s) delivered or available for pick-up at our West Chester location. Your pre-ordered meal will be available for pick up after 4pm on the day you choose, and deliveries will be made between 2-7pm on the day you have scheduled.”

I chose last Tuesday for Chefanti order and I let the husband choose our meal.  Honestly, it all looked great, so I was up for anything.

We ordered the BBQ Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Mixed Veggies for the adults and Crunchy Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli for the kids.  I was planning on having my in-laws eat with us because that is how much food came in this order, but our plans fell through.

It was delicious!  My husband and my Mother In Law (who enjoyed some leftovers with me) raved about how good it was and how much food came with the order.  My husband and I each ate two servings of everything at dinner that night, then we had two weekday lunches to take to work with us (I used the chicken in a salad for two days) and we still had some chicken and potatoes left over for my Mother in Law and kids to pick at!

My kids ate their dinners.  That should say enough considering the food battles we have been having lately. Princess would have eaten the mashed potatoes for weeks if I had let her.  And you would think that chicken tenders are chicken tenders, right?  Not at my house.  Recently they will only eat one brand prepared a certain way (luckily it happens to be all natural with no preservatives…) But they actually agreed to try Chefanti’s Crispy Chicken and they LIKED it.

The worst offender is usually Dude, my middle son.  He resisted at first, but then finally took a bite and he ate 3 pieces!  Unheard of!   The little one is famous for taking all the food off his plate and saying he is done, when really it’s just sitting on the table or fed to the dogs in a very non-discreet way.  He ate 2 pieces of chicken, three (big) pieces of broccoli and mashed potatoes.  The dogs were disappointed.

Something that has really been bothering lately is the quality of food that comes out of restaurants these days. Restaurants that we have patroned for years and always loved have become inedible and something I am not comfortable serving to my children.  Chefanti freshly prepares natural, local food like you would make at home ( just better!).

A little about Chefanti from Owner Jennifer Moriarta:

“My sister (Chef Anne) and I started the business to address the problem so many of us face — how to get a fresh, healthy, balanced meal on the table each night when we’re so incredibly busy all the time! We really value good food, we love to cook, we want to live a healthy lifestyle, yet the traditional take-out and restaurant options are usually loaded with fat, sugar, & salt, no matter where you go! So, we decided to create Chefanti, where busy people can go online and order meals that will be freshly prepared & ready to pick up (or delivered to your door) on the days you need it most. It certainly doesn’t hurt that Chef Anne spent many years as the executive chef at Seasons 52 in King of Prussia, so she has the healthy cooking thing down pretty well now 🙂  Her food is decidedly lighter than other options out there, our portions are reasonable (not tiny but not huge either), and our menu changes every week so we can use what’s fresh & in season (and so you don’t get bored with the same menu all the time!). We opened our doors about 15 months ago and still consider ourselves to be in the “start-up” mode – we’re gradually growing our customer base as more people get on board with the concept. We know it’s a little bit of a hurdle to get people to order ahead of time, but once our clients figure it out we find they really enjoy the convenience, and ordering weekly meals just becomes a regular habit (of course you don’t have to order regularly, we just find the whole concept works best when it becomes more of a lifestyle than just another take-out option). We know everyone is BUSY and we really are here to make life easier for you!”

Chefanti has become a new go-to, replaced multiple other places that we formerly loved.
