2nd Annual Charity Employee Gingerbread House Competition Kicks-off QVC’s “Give Joy” Initiative

By -

SnowCapCottageThe delightful aroma of cinnamon, hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies was lingering in the air as I entered the QVC atrium for the 2nd Annual Charity Employee Gingerbread House Competition. Holiday cheer and the thrill of friendly competition was palpable amongst the QVC employees. As it should be since hundreds of dollars were on the line in charitable donations.

Approximately 100 entries from individuals and teams demonstrated the spirit of the season and creativity inspired by the theme “All the Joy, None of the Craziness.” The entries are displayed in two QVC locations where company personnel and guests can gather to admire the artistry while enjoying gingerbread cookies, beverages and conversation.

Only one gingerbread house per site was bestowed the honor of blue ribbon winner by QVC senior leadership and will retain bragging rights until next year. In addition, QVC will make a donation to a charity chosen by the winning individual or team. Second and third place winners also received donations to the charity of their choice. If the winners choose a QVC featured charity, QVC will double the donation!

New this year, QVC invited employees, their families and friends to Studio Park for a fun holiday afternoon. The gingerbread houses were on display, refreshments available, and participants learned how to make a snow globe, kids made pasta necklaces and commemorative holiday photos were taken.

And the winners are…..drum roll please…
