4th of July is my favorite summer holiday because I have great childhood memories of gathering each year for our annual Worthington Picnic.
My grandmother spent days cooking and preparing and as I got older I would spend the night before so that I could “help” decorate and make a mess in the kitchen.
Same recipes and same people (same decorations 😉 ) every year. We loved it!
Those days are behind us now and we don’t see much of each other as many have passed away and the rest of us have married and either moved or have new traditions. We have tried to resurrect the old, but it hasn’t been “doable” annually.
The 4th of July is red, white and blue, writing your name in the dark with sparklers, family, independence and my grandmothers baked chicken and iced tea.
Another thing about the 4th of July is that it is my anniversary here on CCPA. My very first post was meant to go live for the 4th, but due to some technical and scheduling difficulties, it didn’t get posted until the following Monday. Despite the late posting, I consider the 4th my blogiversary 😉
If you are looking for a way to celebrate the 4th with family, friends or on your own, we have the run down for Chester County!
